To sell scrap metal, customers must provide:

  • A valid government-issued driver's license or identification card
  • A vehicle with a current, valid license plate

Cash Transaction Card Requirements

Texas regulations require a Cash Transaction Card for certain non-ferrous metal sales. Information associated with the card includes:

  • A digital photograph of the seller that accurately depicts the seller's entire face
  • A unique identifying card number
  • An expiration date not exceeding two years from the date the card was issued or renewed

The Cash Transaction Card is mailed to the address provided during the application process. Applications and transaction cards are provided free of charge. If a Cash Transaction Card is lost, a replacement will be available for $5 per printout.

Cash Transaction Card applications are available:

  • Monday–Friday: 8:00 AM–5:00 PM
  • Saturday: 9:00 AM–5:00 PM

Shopping Carts

Shopping carts are not permitted on or around the property. This is against the laws and ordinances of the City of Houston.

Air Conditioner Coils & Condensers

The purchase of air conditioner coils and condensers is restricted under applicable regulations. Anyone selling air conditioner coils or condensers must provide proper documentation establishing ownership and legal authorization to sell the material. In addition, HVAC certification is required for the sale of air conditioner coils and condensers, and licensed HVAC professionals may be required to present valid credentials at the time of transaction. Private citizens must provide a bill, receipt, or other documentation showing they legally purchased the coils, condensers, or a replacement air conditioning unit.
